WDCS - Verdi Requiem performance
VERDI REQUIEM... What an amazing evening !
With ticket sales at around 300, St John's Church was heaving with many of the audience choosing to sit in the balcony. The concert was a hugely uplifting experience, one which elicited comments such as “ outstanding, brilliant, wonderful, worth double the £15 “ from audience members.
Our Musical Director commented "What a work, and what a thrill it was to direct, a splendid orchestra, and cracking solos, but you, the choir, were magnificent, and got a lot of the detail I wanted to achieve, and absolutely got to the dramatic and emotional heart of the piece. I'm going to have those tunes going through my head for days!"
From Janet Harrison : "Well, what can I say that is adequate? The concert was wonderful, superb - all of it. I was so glad to be there, I still felt a part of it having gone through the rehearsals and all the hard work.
I was so proud of the Choir, truly the sound was tremendous, all the light and shade, lovely. The whole concert was a delight to me, the Orchestra splendid,. the soloists as always terrific and Ian as full of energy and purpose as ever. I don't know how he does it."
